Our rulers can ban whatever they choose. I find it hard to believe that so many Americans are buying arms now just to turn them in later. Something our overlords might want to consider.

Somehow I don't think people will be turning them in.

Likely they already have considered this and will probably only use it as an excuse to slaughter more people.....

Think about it, surgical strikes with drones, aircraft carrier, jets or helicopters would make having guns a moot point in my eyes. Middle easterners have guns, but it didn't work out very well for them when our troops invaded.....

most 10/22s should still be legal regardless of a ban. a stock 10/22 doesn't have a pistol grip, threaded barrel, or muzzle device, or anything evil does it? since they only ship with 10 round mags it's the magazines you would have to be after. and i've seen the hotlips mags listed at a few places for about $10 more than usual.

Well, the only reason I want to buy one is to convert it into something that would be considered evil after a hypothetical ban. So unless it is specifically allowed in any configuration, the one I want would still be banned.

Also I think there is some language in the proposed ban which would ban any semi auto rifle capable of accepting magazines with more than 10 rounds. That would be an evil feature, which a 10/22 clearly falls under. The devil is in the details.

No, I was not suggesting that American civilians could stand against the full might of the military. On the other hand, want to bet on who is left standing in Afghanistan in a few years? A few million patriots with rifles can create a lot of mischief. Judging by the empty shelves here in my area, somebody bought a lot of ammo, pistols, and rifles lately. Why did they do that?

Uhm ... They are still fighting us a decade later. We are pulling out, and they are still there doing what they do.

military might doesnt always prevail. there are plenty of examples of that throughout history.

whatever worst case scenario you can think of, it won't work out with a clear cut military vs. civilian conflict. the people aren't just gonna lay down. i reckon there would be plenty of organized groups and military separatism. which may be the reason why this UN arms treaty has been created.

real scary stuff.

Well, lets see.........Afghanistan has not fell and Alexander the Great, the British, the Russians, the Soviets, and now the United States have been there. What about Vietnam with the French, Japanese, the French again, and then the United States? What about the American Revolution? What about Andy Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans? Throughout history a smaller force has been able to defeat a more mighty military because the people fighting believed in the cause they were fighting for. I hope it doesn't come to this, but the United States would not be the "United States" if the Constitution is waded up and trampled on.

I have a stronger weapon than all the bullets or rifles ever made.

I have a vote. I, along with like minded people, can shape the future of these Great United States of America.

We just proved it in Illinois by blasting our lawmakers with phone calls and email on two gun issues a bit ago.

We need to rouse the sleeping majority to the dangers anytime the govermnet threatens to limit our freedoms/rights "for our own good."

I am guessing it is because most of the people here already had a small armory. Gotta give it to the Mormons, they are prepared. Not to mention the silos and warehouses across this area packed with food.

Hay Jarhead, I have some friends on bikes that can swing by your place and tell you all about the church.

We should not underestimate our fellow Americans. Yes, there are those that will turn in their guns but I'm sure there are a few million that will tell Mr. O to stick his head in the toilet and flush it. Your idea of rulers baffles me, I don't answer to the king.
