Might be able to find a War Dog Hack. Much thinner and either the same length or a little shorter. WD amd 411 just fine in my book. You don't want an exposed striker end poking through the Res C...

I'll have to say that I was influenced by the modifications to a Mud Puppy. Yes, RN I've seen your reviews on BF and I believe BushcraftUSA? Great photos and material.

If I remember correctly, the Wardog was spec'ed out at .200 inch thick.
I have a Busse Combat Wardog HAck, I THINK the thickness at the spine is the same. BUT It has a VERY DEEP hollow grind (think straight razor here) and it is VERY light weight. And of course with the Busse guarantee, No worries.

Or custom makers?
I like the choil on SY knives. Actually is very usable on the 411 and 711.
Mudder handles are great but an open back isnt happening. Its explained on the SY website.

I do like the look of the 411, and hope to get one when when it (hopefully) becomes available soon. However, while it appears to be a good knife, it's not ideal for bushcraft. The blade is too thick and a bit too long, and the square choil is apparently for looks (see 1311, etc). What would be closer to idea is the Mud Puppy LE design with a 3.75-4" blade of .15-.17" thickness, no choil (ideal), elf choil (Rodent Solution) or a usable choil (Rodent 4). Also, an exposed tang end (to pound on) would minimize damage to the mudders.
Oh Dan, if you're listening to the howling of the dogs, remember how popular the Hairy Carry LE was for Swamp Rat, but I think SY could do better. Maybe you could find some INFI scraps in the yard! I do remember and I just came across some of those when I was dumpster diving An interesting discussion Dan

Knife Hunter has a few HACK War Dogs on Exchange now.
RN, I don't think that HACKs are thinner stock than Yard War Dogs, but they are hollow ground so only spine is thick.
