No hot spots on my hands, although I do have some good calluses (but not nearly as good as when I was doing construction) so that may have helped but I didn't feel any while chopping.

Overall I am pleased with the performance and astounded by the edge retention. Even after chopping enough silver maple and some lilac for a nice cook fire it would make fuzz sticks and slice paper cleanly on the area of the blade that did the most chopping.

The whole pile took about 8 to 10 min of chopping I could have cut that almost in half I would guess if I had a decent chopping block but I was using a 2 1/2 inch branch so I was getting a lot of bounce sometimes.

That looks like quite a chopper. I wonder if you'd be worried that the tip might break off, since it could come in contact first with whatever you hit. What type of steel is this made from?

Thanks its a nice set up.
No the tip is a thick convex edge and quite sturdy. I did use it a couple times on the big stuff just to see and when it did make it through it would stick into the branch I was chopping on with no ill effects.

I traded my 1311 for a Rucki whistle (I didn't like the handle) sorry.

LOL I may just have to do that. Let me get a decent chopping block first. If I scrape to much off the Rucki I can just have it satin convexed. (mmmmmmmm yeah i like the idea of that with tan liners)
