I'm not a knifemaker either, but I play one on the internet. The answer is YES. A big blade has a lot more surface area to grind. Maintaining a straight, even high saber grind is difficult and requires some skill and patience. It is done by hand. Doing a full flat grind on a 4" blade is much easier. I have seen some of your custom grind work at Blade, Jeff, so I know that you are aware of this.
