He just turned 18 weeks old Saturday!
Labs are nice dogs. Max is our first! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Peace.
Glad to hear Max is doing much better. Was he a stray/rescue?
Labs are great animals. Sienna aka Butthead out 17 month old female goes with us everywhere, and I mean everywhere. She travels easily, loves to be outside wtih us, isn't a barker, loves people, etc.... They really are a go anywhere do anything dog.
By Christmas Max should be teething. Have fun with that. Use hot pepper wax or oil on your furnature and he won't go after it. That bitter apple stuff, and no bite solution that you see in pet stores is crap, it doesn't work.
In the pic above he looks focused and attentive. That's a good sign. It usually means that obedience training will take pretty easily. And I do recommend training, it makes our job as owners easier.
As he gets bigger he'll become harder to control on a leash. Contrary to popular belief Labs wern't bred to retreive bird for hunters. They were originally bred to retreive fishing nets full of fish for fishermen in Labrador. They're deisgned to pull, and pull they will.
Look into a collar called a
Gentle Leader it makes them so easy to manage. And yes it really does work. I'm starting scout on his training today. It also helps you establish control and dominance over your dog. Even though you see your dog as a pet, he sees you as part of his pack.
Peace
