beat me to it. i use the hex dumbells because of a wrist injury. i'll do pushups heavily on periods i can't get to the gym, like vacations. four sets of fifty before breakfast will usually get the blood flowing and the chest pumped. then i'll try half a set of diamonds and/or with the feet elevated.

I use the hex dumbells as well, like you say they reduce the stress on the wrists and give more variety. I elevate my feet on a bench and alter the width etc of the bells each set !
