If you're looking for a good solid durable light gor everyday usage I'd suggest a Mini-Mag LED. They're actually a pretty good upgrade to the old style mini-mags. The light output is pretty good, it's LED so it won't burn out on you. Lastly, you can find them for 20-25 bucks.
I bought one of the Mag LED upgrades, but what’s WAY better is the new 3 watt 2aa light. It’s at least 3x brighter than the upgrade.
I've ditched MagLite 2xAA bulb types long ago.. the bulbs burn out/break way too fast.. not enough light for the weight/size carried.
So I'm on the Hunt for a good LED, small, pocket carry, long batt life w/ normal AA or AAA.
In the meantime i'm packing a humble lil Dorcy 1AAA LED (~$7.99 @ Walmart)
The Dorcy was my EDC until I got the 3 watt 2AA Maglite. It’s amazingly bright, a great deal for the price/quality.
hmm.. gonna have to try one of those 3W LEDs out!
How do they run with Ni-MH AAA rechargables?
I run nimh AAs in mine. When I first got it I left it on and timed it and I got 4 hours of light out of it before it went dead. They’re like $25 at Walmart, give ‘em a try. And if for some reason you don’t like it, you can always return it at Walmart with your receipt. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
