I was pretty impressed with you putting the Camillus sell off with the numbers and letters thing BLD. We know the Busse boys were at the auction and the time is right. It is hard to imagine a steel with les chromium than 52100 because it stains so fast <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> but the vanadium would help. I am not sure where CarbonV would be better than S7 or 52100 both of which Busse already uses. Maybe for a small knife it would be worth trading a bit of toughness for some edge holding but then why not just use 52100?
The big reason I would have for not thinking it was Carbon V is the Busse kin would not want to use a steel that is associated with inferior knives like CS and Camilluss. I like the CarbonV and Camilluss blades especially the Beckers but have always considered the Scrapers and Rats to be better. Even if the Yard had much better heat treating it would not be good for the brand.
I would much rather see some 52100/res -c small knives from the yard. A 52100 SS4 would rock.
