It's all about the heat treating protocol. Subject the chemical make up of INFI to poor heat treating and what will you have? A poor performing steel.
The trail masters for example were treated in a molten salt dip. Nothing special here in fact this is how it's been done for centuries. Some steels performance can be improved anywhere from 300% to 500% with deep cryo treating. So it's quite possible that dan could take an average steel like CV and vastly improve on it's performance.
If Dan was able to pick up the steel for pennies on the pound and worked some magic making it better then yes it still fits the maximum performance to price ratio banner.
