hehe I was also told when I was little you could tell if they were poisonous by they way they swam, either flat or with their head sticking out of the water. I grew up around VA Beach so we had plenty of water moccosins(same as cotton mouth I think) and non-poisonous water snakes too. a few copperheads, and supposedly some rattlesnakes and coral snakes, but I never saw any in 10 years there.
