Ok, I did a little more testing. At the end the results were a little untypical of a Scrap Yard Knife.
So first up was just my usual try-to-destroy-tip-prying wood test.

No problem. The YKLE took it like the FBM. It would get jammed in the wood and just roll out.

I couldn't get a large aperture from digging with the YKLE

Not a phenomenal digger of wood, like the RMD, but man is the tip a beast!!
Thus I went to a second board.

This time it was little bit better. The wood actually cooperated with me.

A slightly larger opening was dugged.

Tip is just as good as day 1.

Next, I really wanted to see how this chopped.

Got through the wood and UH OH....

I don't understand what happened. The wood was actually pretty dense fat wood but I did not expecting the YKLE to completely dent on me like that. The chops until the fat wood was fine. Then first hit on the supersaturated wood and the LE dented. My FBM took all the damage when Cloak and I harvested a good deal of fatwood out in the Gorge.

One side looks like something did happened, but not so sure.

But upon closer inspection...

I've definitely got a decent dent from just chopping wood.
I went back home and cleaned the knife up and examined it even closer.
Yep, I've definitely got a decent dent.

(you gotta remember this ain't no DF and that isn't a sissy dent)
I really feel pretty darn bad that this happened. Wasn't expecting at all. The YKLE chopped amazingly, less than 50 chops and it was through the board! For only a 9 inch knife that's pretty darn impressive. I really still like this knife, but seeing the edge dent up from chopping a little wood worries me.
I know that even if I do sharpen it out, it will happen again. I'm a little saddened by this but I know the Yard will pull through for me.
