That is a great idea with the mudders. I am a big fan and they look cool.
The SAR5 has a great handle design but the micarta has very aggressive ridges which could be why people don't like it. It is designed to work well with gloves.
It kind of feels like a Strider cord wrap or my katana.

I actually have very small hands so i don't have a problem with the YKCG or the other small TES-C handles and Dan has added a choil to the Mutts which helps but
when I had the YKCG sitting on top of the SAr5 to compare the blades it seemed so obvious that cutting off thet chunk at the front of the handle would be a big improvement.
My SAR5 is on it's way to Eric for pants. Some knives like the DFLE need leather some like the HairyCarry can suit both kydex or leather but the SAR5 is definitly kydex.
