Hi, I've been wondering for a while what are people doing with their knives. And I decided to ask you. What do you use your knives for?
For example, I use mine for cutting things (of course, this is the main purpose of a knife). And I also use my knives at home for food preparation, cutting bones (by hammering into the spine), eating and other kitchen stuff like this. I also use some of the toughest knives for throwing in the yard. Throwing is... you know... is very good entertainment and a good way of relaxing; I feel it even much attracting than going to a poligon and shoot with a gun, because I can do it in my own yard whenever I want to and it comes more natural, easy and it requires no aditional expenses (other than the knife itself and a piece of wood); it also allows me to use my entire energy in a throw, so It's very exciting. When I go on a trip, expedition or training session, I usually keep my backpack as light as possible. Sometimes I carry a lightweight saw (like the sawvivor) together with one or two knives, othertimes I just carry a small pack weighting less than 3Kg so that I can run, climb, swim or do any other stuff with it on my back with minimal energy consumption (it contains about anything I need there, not only the knife and it needs to be as light as possible). In this case, with the only knife I have on me, I do a lot of things: digging into the ground (hole for fire making, digging for groves or for other purposes), starting the fire with firesteel (only when the lighter doesn't work), chopping, spliting wood for fire, defending from animals and, of course, cutting and food preparation. Sometimes I also break things with the tip by hitting the back of the handle with a baton or with a rock and sometimes I use the knife for carving and wood modeling, depending on my needs.
