I agree that micarta isn't a cheapo material, Dave. The person you mentioned just doesn't care much for using it to construct knife handles. On the other hand, said individual has numerous other redeeming qualities that endear him to those of us who have been around here awhile. Actually, I like micarta. I just don't like it in the handle of a knife that's designed to absorb a lot of shock.
