Anywhere coastal can be hell- but also quite nice. I have spent eons of time in Vera Cruz- Colima-Jalisco- San Luis Potosi-Quetaro-zacatecas-San Miguel and all over colonial Mexico.Most folks never see the " roots" or colonial Mexico .Being down in the Yucatan where you were has it's benefits for sure. I love it down there but also love the historical Mexico north. The history is absolutely fascinating and kinda romantic in my opinion. I need to spend more time down where you were as only been there a few times for short stay of a week or two. I have spent months in these other areas.
