I have a friend who has a vacation home there as well although I have never seen it.

Botanical Gardens are supposed to be neat, and they might be but it looked like alot of the Texas ranch land to me.

The Momma Mias comes to mind, and is fairly nice for food and drinks. Great live music.

Limericks is a nice "Irish" pub and had a particular beer that was always a better deal but never a great deal.

You need to go to El Gato Negro. The oldest cantina in San Miguel, maybe the dirtiest too. It was a door or two down from my school so I spent alot of time there.

Poncho and Leftys was kind of commercial but we did get VIP treatment for bringing white girls. It sounds bad but it was/is the truth.

Casa Pagio sp? was a great steak house and provided some much need calories and quite.

All of these places are close to the central church or Parroquia. Most of the "nice" stuff is in this area IMHO. It is filled with non-Mexicans.

There is one place that the name escapes me but your friends should know that overlooks the city and has good food.

Sadly, and again, maybe not the first place I would go would be El Gato Negro.

Watch the cab drivers, they are pushy, negotiate the fee before hand and stick with it. The roads are "cobble stone" translate to very very rough.

More to come.
