RS: I just use a scotchbrit pad soaked (just a small corner usually works) in oil and scrub scrub scrub. Oh Yeah, you could always do like I did on a knife I bought in the Philippines. When you're done using it, just jab it into the ground 3 or 4 times, wipe it off on your pants leg and sheath it! After a while, you will see it won't hardly rust at all. (p.s. I have a shotgun that has rusted and been cleaned with the pad/oil combo so many times rust just slides off it).
