RS, I found wiping the knife down after use with a Tuff-Cloth helps keeps the rust from getting started in the first place. I know the scotchbrite pads work great on the DMDC. I intentionally tried to make the DMDC rust. Left it in a live well all day. Took it out at the end of the day, dried it off then wiped it down with a Tuff-Cloth. After 4 days of this the knife did start to show signs of rust.
