The problem is the uncoated part at the bottom of the blade. I like to call that part the "edge". It is bare steel with no protection from the elements.

Option 1: You could send it back and get that part coated too. Then wrap the entire knife in cosmoline and put it in a hermetically sealed container with dessicant. Then put the whole thing in a climate controlled storage room, and leave it there forever.

Option 2: Use the darn knife!
