I think you are right about it being a military knife. It is a Bowie knife, as is the Ka-Bar style combat knife. Like that combat knife, it is and was used more for utility purposes than in hand to hand combat, but it was used for that, too. It sure feels good in the hand.

The Ka-Bar and the Recon Scout come to mind for me. I think Dan is looking to DOMINATE those two otherwise worthy knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

And I agree. Too many people seem to believe that a good military knife is a fighter. I have not been in the military, but know enough to know that hand to hand combat is NOT what a good military knife is primarily designed for - although "CAN" be if needed.

Similarly, I again hope Dan would sort of establish the intent parameters of the knife to keep peoples feedback and reviews geared towards what he wants.

And/or possibly get some sort of poll or feedback from those of you who have been in the military and what the primary needs and uses are for such a knife.

Given those parameters, I can provide more meaningful feedback.

Maybe even a series of primary tasks and tests or something???
