In around 1978 we upgraded our coaxs in our M60A1 tanks with M240s. I forget what the old one was, but it wasn't very reliable. The 240s were outstanding. Those early models had three rates of fire that were adjusted by a gas aperture. When we first got them, we set them on high rate. Engaging popup silhouettes, we could barely traverse fast enough to keep from running out of ammo! We sliced those targets in half like a light saber. Good MG. Glad our boys in the infantry are getting them. It is based on the old BAR design. John Browning's legacy lives on.
