In "most" cases, with 100 posts, a Dog has generally at least interacted enough with the forum and fellow dogs to learn about Scrap Yard and the Yard forum and appreciate a few things about the knives and company and so on. And hopefully at least contributed a bit on the forums.
[color:"yellow"] *** Maybe, if trying to keep numbers reasonable, just requesting that there be an "Honorable" attempt to provide at least a "majority" of posts as true interaction/participation type posts - as opposed to meaningless Death Chat (Race) posts. - Not to try to question or account for individuals actions. Just a request for some honor in the attempts to keep post counts "Meaningful" based on participate and true interaction. [/color]
I voted for 100. BUT, my vote for 100 is based on the "hope" that some disclaimer is added along the lines of the request above - something as simple as requesting that: "Honor" in validity and value/worth of posts is requested, accepted and appreciated.
Short of that, I guess I would vote for 300 - maybe even 500 and let the Death Chat's go crazy. Some people really enjoy the spirit of the Death Chat races. - Fair enough. But, I would want higher numbers (300 - 500) if this is the game.
Obviously, (in most cases) more posts equals more effort and contributions. But, getting to 200 - 300 does take a LOT of time and effort - especially if meaningful posts. - But, 300 isn't even that easy to achieve even if making silly non-worthy 5 word posts for a few hours on the Death Chat.
I’d like to think the quality of a Dog’s posts count for something. I’m not a high count poster, but I try to make my posts entertaining and/or informative. But for patches, or challenge coins, I don’t see a way to sort quality from quantity. There is a subjective difference between one of Horn Dog’s or Knife Guy’s long reviews and a single sentence, I’m-going-to-boost-my-count Death Chat entry.
The numbers don’t care. There is no mechanism in place to distinguish between high and low quality posts. The only way to sort post by quality is by personal evaluation. And that’s a can of worms I don’t want to see opened in the Yard. Nobody will argue that Horn Dog doesn’t give good post. But plenty of us will argue that we
do, when we find we didn’t make the cut.
Just go by the numbers.
