It really doesn't matter to me what type of knife some call machetes. Try getting agreement on what makes a golok or bowie or bolo and you run into the same controversy. Machete is a very generic term to me. All of them are large knives used to slash or chop stuff. There are bolo machetes, bowie machetes, golok machetes, barong machetes, sugar cane machetes, combat machetes, Salvadoran machetes, Panga machetes, camp machetes, and probably a few more.
