I, for one, am really ready for a short, stout, Res-C handled or skeletonized EDC in the sub-$60 price range . . . possibly the Scrapper 3 or a Scrap Yard version of the Assault Shaker/Rat Shaker.
Sounds good to me! Something affordable enough to buy multiples of!
So, what is the big deal about INFI? The SR-77 seems tough enough to me. Isn't it similar to jack hammer bit steel? How [censored] tough does a knife need to be? The only significant difference I can tell between my Busse and my DF is the DF has a better handle.
This has been talked about a lot in the past on the Swamp forum (before the Yard existed) about SR101 vs. INFI and why it was better. For that discussion, people that owned both and used them hard said that SR101 would do like 90% of what INFI would do. INFI does have a slight edge in performance, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. SR101 or SR77 is plenty good enough for most people. INFI is like 10% better performace, for 2x-3x the price. Really, it’s for those who want and can afford the very best. The price to performace is not reasonable to the average knife buyer. SR77 shines in impact resistance, and SR101 does with edge retention. So, generally, SR77 is better for choppers, and SR101 is better for smaller knives. Hmm…maybe Jerry makes INFI by mixing SR101 and SR77. That would combine impact strength and edge retention.
