... Thomas seems to think it is my lack of strength and ability. Maybe he is right. IMO the design is poor. If it were properly designed, a person of ordinary strength and dexterity should be able to open it easily with one hand. I think I have at least ordinary strength and dexterity....

b/c I have the JYD2 (along with the JYD1 and the Groove) and it deploys easily with very gentle finger tip actuation..... I KNOW you've got something wrong with yours....and I read what Thomas wrote......which is why I posted here and I urge u to send that lemon in for a new one or at least Repair....
the smaller JYD 1 is the only one out of the three (JYD1/2/Groove) that requires me to use some wrist assist to open it up....
the JYD2 and Groove are opened up with VERY light pressure.....not much more than when deploying my AO Bump or Leeks ...
