Once again I made a trade with a fellow dog.
This time for a Mud Puppy.I had a Muppy already & love it ,but wanted another to debeak & make it a little handier for edc.I also wanted to expose the tang so I could pound on it if the need should ever arise.Ya never know ya know .Despite shortening the mudder handle it still feels great in the hand which is what I figured would be the case.I didn't think the lanyard hole was as close to the end of the tang as it is though ,but not to worry.....

as you can see there was a viod/bubble in the beak area & I was able to grind most of it out.

Still plenty of handle for controlled cutting.
So after the debeaking I wanted to see just how tough this Scrap Yard 154CM was & decided to drive the Muppy through a quarter.Plus I wanted to check the feasibility of pounding on the tang.
I did the debeaking & pounding at work because that is where the belt sander & other shop tools are, then came home for the photo shoot.
Anyho..I thought the Muppy went through the quarter too easy,so decided to really test the Scrap Yard 154CM..I scrounged a piece of scrap 2x2x1/8" steel tube & clamped it in the vice. Then commenced to pound the Muppy in...

Just a couple of little marks on either side.I slid my thumb nail down the blade & there was no deformation of the edge.
Then I remember seeing a pic of one of the 154CM
knives slicing a pipe.(a muppy I believe)& had to give it a try.....

again,no dings found on the edge with the thumb nail, just marks on the sides of the blade...

Just a few more to show the love for the steel...

Now my Muppy is everything the game warden wishes it was, lighter, more stain resistent,a more comfortable handle,a useable choil & just as tough IMO.
It ain't purdy but with a name like Mud Puppy what do you expect!

I look forward to the next 154CM release....
because this stuff is awesome.

And don't worry,I already asked JYD#98 if he wanted this Muppy & told him I was going to mod it if he didn't & he said thanks but no thanks.
I still have #139 for a future JYD if he/she wants it.

Rock on Yard, home of the best [censored] knives on the planet!

And maybe Santa will bring me a new camera for christmas.

SYKCO JYD#112
It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.
