I think I'm going to hold off on getting a new car until I have a house with a garage.

oh ya, I have a box on the back passeneger seat with VCR and audio casette tapes, and usually a zipped open bookbag with some books on the front seat. I think that helps send a message too.

Of course, in my area of Orange County, even in new condition, my 96 toyota is bottom 5% of the totem pole as far as autos go, and the LE does a good job at keepin the riff raff pigeonholed in their barrios.
