I've had one for years also, thought it was a pretty cool idea. But it is better as an idea then for actual use. Never could keep a tinder bundle together and push down into it. I use the back of my knife on it more than I use it one handed. I should pull out the rod and make a handle for it so I can use it like a normal firesteel.
