I have a Lansky system, that I don't use anymore. I'm not a big fan for a few reasons. One is the tediousness of using it on longer blades (over 5" or so). You have to move the clamp (can mark the blade) and work in sections. Two is the instability of the mount, and three is the fact that you are driving you fingers towards the blade. I have slipped off the stone and cut my knuckle badly. Oil + plastic doesn't make for a secure grip.
I use mousepad and sandpaper/3M microabrasive film before stropping or a Spyderco Sharpmaker.
