I also connected them together with a USB Y-adapter cable and they appeared to charge a crappy Sandisk MP3 player (only device I had compatible with the Y-adapter) just fine. Unfortunately I do not have the appropriate equipment to confirm if the current output was doubled.
IMO one of these guys coupled with a non-3G Kindle that stores all your SHTF pdf books make a perfect BOB couple.
