Maybe this has been covered before, but if not here we go.
We have an 11 year old Miniature Schnauzer that is a great dog for us. Doesn't shed, is a great ratter and watch dog. She is also very sweet and would not last in extreme temperatures in the wild with us for very long. She is part of our family and will be missed when she is gone. We love this dog.
Most don't like to think or talk about this so I'll start.
What would you do if you had to bug out? Humanly kill your pets? Take with you?
Let loose?
I know this depends on your own situation and type of pet you have. The wife and I have already discussed this and would humanly kill our Sadie. It pains me to even think about this but you must be prepared.
Either take them with you or put em down. Turning them lose makes you feel better, not the animal. You believe they will live s ome fantasy life, join a pack survive but in reality they will probably die suffering. There is a lot of articles on line about this topic and the danger of wild dogs during a disaster.
I plan on taking em with, but I prepared for this and have no intention of going to a refugee camp such as during where animals are not allowed.
Good luck.
