Thanks to this post, I started looking at "upgraded" AR15 cartridges. And now I have a 6.8 spc.

I am going to go shoot it this weekend. Actually, it will be my son who will use it for big game this fall. He's nine, so the mild recoil and adjusting stock will be perfect.

I love high velocity rounds, (.204 ruger, 460 S&W (fast for revolvers), .257 weatherby magnum, .243 win) so, the 6.8 is quite the departure from that. But, good placement on medium size game at moderate distances with the right bullet selection, the .270 "lite" will do it's job. And, in a handy 18" fluted barrel, it's quick and light compared to a standard cartridge in the AR10 platform.

I actually think that the 300 blackout round will become more popular, but I like the slight, ballistic advantage of the 6.8 spc II
