Dog vs Scrapper 6 or Rat Mastiff......hmm I think I would pack the Mastiff for a 6 mile hump. If your talking to difference between 30lbs and 45lbs ok, you might want to lighten the load, but not the knife. If it to be carried on a sheath around your waist, you will never notice it.
