I'm willing to trust the Busse heat treatment. With the magical dust from the knife sprites the heat treat delivers what others have only hoped for. Dan Its a throw down!! MM

Becker and ESEE knives seem to perform well with 1095. SYKCO should also.

Not stoked.....yet!
I have to say I am a huge fan of 5160 and the thought of a Scrapyard knife in that steel was a dream come true.
But 1095?
I am sure it will be awesome but it was the steel that brought me to Busse and Kin in the 1st place. SR77, SR101, INFI all pretty special stuff.
1095 is not a an expensive or impressive steel. It is in thousands of knives from hundreds of companies. I have seen BK and Ontario overcharge for it for years while countless numbers of their blades have snapped and chipped out on youtube an forums.
I am not saying that this isn't a good knife or the the most amazing 1095 rendition ever seen. Who knows? It could be!
But when I look at the price of the Schrade SCHF series and the durability issues of a companies like BK and Ontario I have issues.
Time will tell.

Well, it's not that I don't want to get one, it's a race to see which happens first, the TRASH gets taken out or sufficient income arrives. If the TRASH can stay on the curb & hold through the weekend I'll have a shot at one if everything comes together on my end...

I believe that 5160 is a good tough steel as well.

Call it SR95.. blammo, done.
I think you'd only be likely to see an improvement in 5160 over 1095 is if it was a larger 'choppy' type blade. From what I understand 1095 has higher abrasion resistance and 5160 is tougher.
