Haha Josh, you aren't included in that category. You know What Difference It Would Make. And I know you are smarter than using your home computer for sensitive work projects. SOME folks think they are above having to adhere to the rules and regulations the rest of us do. And UNfortunately, those pansies in D.C. won't do anything about it.

OK, Emerson knives. You know that I really like my Emersons, specially the karambit and the Mini CQC15. They are excellent self defense blades, with the '15 being more versatile that my beloved karambit. The major problem I feel with the K-bit is that so much of the handle (the entire ring at the end) sticks out of your pocket, advertising to one and all that you probably have some kind of "Protection" in your pocket. Unfortunately I can't see a remedy for this actually. For the knife to work as designed, you MUST be able to get a finger in the ring to remove it from your pocket and get the wave feature to work. That is one of the reasons I went ultimately with the Mini CQC 15 (it still has a 3.5 inch blade though), so it will work in an SD situation and the recurve to the blade along with the Americanized tanto tip just, at least to me, screams Defensive Edge Here.

Am I a (still) fan of emersons, yes, SOME of them. Will I carry them some, yes I will but at least for now the Spyderco will be my primary edged "Accessory" in the sharp and pointy steel category.

OK, here we go again.

Spyderco. Better feeling in the hand, more "Slicy" blade due to the Full Flat Grind (FFG). They are a lot tougher than they seem, and the designer(s) did their homework on the ergonomics. Good Job Spyderco.

Emerson. No doubt, they are tough as nails USING blades. They don't have any frills or bells and whistles and they just work, period. But they are a mite on the thicker and heavier side. They APPEAR to be more robust or tougher, more able to take a licking and keep on ticking, but not sure if they are really that much tougher or not. AND I am not going to chance destroying either brand just to find out. As far as filling your hand, the emerson wins hands down. BUT the spyderco has a better "Feel" and doesn't feel like you have picked up a slightly round cornered brick. NO the emersons DO NOT feel like picking up a brick, but they are more chunky in your hand.

I hope this all makes sense to you and doesn't confuse more than you might already be.

Regards
Skunk

Yeah, no, I leave work at work. No sensitive anything on my computers, phones, or anything. It's hard enough to get away from the office…why on earth would I want to bring it home? grin

Dang. Just realized my Emerson K tip is still covered in my blood...

I will never trust a tip-up blade in my pocket again

I love the design. It's a sharp, pointy, spear-tip. Just can't get used to that fear I'm gonna cut through half my thumb when I reach for my keys wink
