I don't feel like going through to find the quote about the orange sheath on the Tor....so in my eternal boredom, I dyed mine today......came out sort of "aged" look about it.

What do you guys think of that new carbon being used by Cold Steel called SK-5...I am thinking of getting one of their Kukhris made in that steel.

Hello young lad. I don't know anything about the steel CS is using these days, but I wanted to suggest you take a look at the kuks from Himalayan Imports and Tora. I have several kuks from both these companies and they are excellent. These kuks are hand forged in Nepal by Kamis using leaf springs as a base material. These kuks are all differentially hardened, something I doubt you'd get from CS.

Also, Bark River Knife and Tool (BRKT) is scheduled to come out with a kukuri later this year. This one has been in the design stages for quite awhile and it should be quite a piece. If you're unfamiliar with BKT, Mike Steweart is a master of the convex grind and his company produces some top notch knives.

aw willie you beat me to it.

HI makes the most effective choppers i've ever owned. as far as chopping power/dollar goes, they are king. anyone wants to challenge that, bring your DF to NJ and we'll settle it. my ganga ram was $60, new, with lifetime warranty, and outchops my battle mistresses, fat and corrugated.

course, if you wanna do things other than chop with it...don't get a khuk. HI makes smaller cutters, but modern knives typically outperform those models easily.

I always thought CS's LTC model was cool looking, though. now you can only get the machete version. I ordered one and bladematrix sent me the magnum version instead, which i have yet to test. I may still buy the other one. i say if you've gotta have a CS, get the machete and put a good edge on it. if you want the real deal, go HI.

as for the brkt...i gotta see that. may not be able to pass on that one.

If BRKT comes out witha khikri, I hope a lot of people will sell their Gamekeepers to get funds for it.

+1. My hat's off to Willieboy for not getting caught up in the drama. I, for one, have decided to move in a direction where liking or disliking the way the Busse's do business doesn't really matter. That doesn't mean I'll stop participating in the show, however.

Not participating in the "drama" he created by tossing random insults about Busse, and then refusing to own up to it?
I seem to recall you doing the same thing.

Hello Magnum. I don't know man, the Toras are wicked choppers too. I have the Sherpa Sirupate and it's awesome for lighter chopping. The Tora Kuks are lighter per inch that the HIs for whatever that's worth. I have a Sgt. Khadka Chirua Ang Khola that would probably be a good chopper except that mine is a little too short at 15".

The BRKT kuk should be something. Mike Stewart has been working with Nasty in the design and I know Mike repects and understands kuk design. Therefore, I expect it will be more that a kuk shaped knife. I think, however, that it will be very pricey. We'll see.

What you think of me, Rat, is none of my business. Go flame somebody who cares.

TTFN!

what is TTFN? secret weasel code? when someone flings passive aggressive jabs of innuendo that are intended to demean the character of a good man I respect, I am going to call them on it. the fact that certain individuals are too spineless to own up with an explanation or a retraction does not make my questioning their fallacious statements "flaming"
In fact the cowardly and spiteful comments made by you two would be considered flaming. Trolls, in any case.
