I hope he found some other cool stuff like some infi perhaps?

I did not like the DM at all but this new one has fixed everything I did not like which was mostly the blade geometry. Some people with big hands will have a hard time if they are the same tiny Basic handles.

I will get one or 5 depending on price. Actually I will almost certainly get at least 5.

Has anyone noticed that the Ratmandu is a reworked Dumpster Mutt? The Mutt is thicker. The choil and tang is different. The Rat lacks a penetrator tip. But the blade shape and saber grind look identical to me.

The functional difference is that the Ratmandu can slice. The Mutt is too thick for efficient cutting. It does have its place. I keep a Mutt in my urban emergency bag. As a compact entry tool and pry-bar that happens to have an edge, the Mutt is great. If a knife is first and foremost a cutting instrument, the Mutt leaves a lot to be desired.

The Dumpster Mutt LE may be an acceptable compromise. With a full height grind and “only” a ¼” thickness, it is certain to out cut the Classic Mutt. I hope it will match the Ratmandu. But the proof of the pudding is in the cutting.

As much as I am looking forward to the DFLE, I am very happy just to have some new Scrap Yard steel coming down the pipeline!

Like many in this thread, I bought RatManDus (in my case, five of them because I missed the initial DM release, and secondary market prices were about the same as a new Rat). I've also said before that in general, I believe SR101 steel and thinner blades are superior to thick SR77 for short blades (< 6"). However, as others have said, I think that the full-height grind will make the DMLE a pretty good slicer and it's a great looking knife.

I suppose that, the price will determine how many I buy, but I'll want at least one anyway (I tend to buy in quantities of three, so that's what will probably happen). It's been surprising to me that the general tone about the DMLE seems largely negative. I know that many, including myself, had gotten expectations up about a DFLE, but I still plan to support the Scrap Yard. Remember, if you don't support the yard, then the terrorists win.

Me Too!

I especially like that it's shiney and has that logo on it too!

I really like the logo, I wish it could be on all SYKCO's knives...

I know it's not an important part of the knife, but it just adds something special...
