BLD522, are you sure the blade shape is different? I have no experience with the original DM, but a saber grind can break up the appearance of breadth, due to the additional lines it creates along the length of the blade. The visual separation between the CG finish and that shiny, sharpened edge can also change the look of proportion on an otherwise identical shape, for the same reasons. I imagine if you take out the saber grind and blend its shiny edge back into the now Satin body, then angle the camera right (which means a schewed image from the angle AND possibly from a change in proportions which occasionally seems to happen in digital photos) the blade shape can seem quite different than the Original DM on the main page. To me a Satin Finish vs. the same CG always looks broader.
As an example, the Scrapper 6 looks different enough to me in these photos, and the first one isn't angled to the extreme that the DMLE shot is.
I've seen straight profile shot where a satin S6 is sitting next to an ASH and the S6 looks way more broad bellied than the first photo above, but I can't find the url.
Anyway, I hope I'm wrong. I love the way that DMLE looks in Dumpster Dan's announcement photo. It looks like a mini Camp Tramp, and I love the profile of that Camp Tramp knife!
