I think I to will pass on the DMLE. Ever since I got the RATMANDU it's on my hip almost every day. I don't know if I'll every find a knife to replace it. in fact it's on my checklist for hunting season.

I like thinner edges and a steel that gives up some toughness for some edge retention. S7 is still better than 1095 though and the new specs make it a MUCH more practical knife than the original Mutt. It is a strange choice for Dan to make though. Why an LE version? Are they out of coating? You would think that with how long it has been since the last release that the company would want to crank out as many knives as possible?

Not that I mind I am sick of black blades anyway. My dream scrapper is a DFLE
with a very fine competion bowie edge and a sterile blade that I have put a mirror polish on in a nice rainwalker leather rig.

I think the Ratmandu and Dumpster Mutt are different versions of the same knife. I must admit, I like the new DMLE better than the orignial. With a flat grind and 1/4" stock, it should be a real good all-around knife. But the Ratmandu will fit my hand better.

I don't get what an S7 would have that the Guards don't? I actually much prefer a recuve myself.

Higher grind!!! come now, you knew that...

now the 9" guard/mojo, i woulda gotten. if it arrives before ethan releases the brute, then i'll get it as well.

Horn Dog,

If you recall, was the style/shape/clip, etc. of the S7 identical to the S6, just a 1" longer blade?

Yes it was very similar. I think the S7 seemed a little thinner, but I'm not sure. It was light and had good balance.
