Forgot to add that, like most people, I immediately ripped out the foam lining that came with the Survival Inc. kit. It looks great with the custom cut-outs for each piece, but removing it adds about three times as much inside room for your gear.
Also forgot to mention the Strike-Force firestarter, also from Survival Inc. It DOES come in a high visability color, with some interesting features that the Blastmatch lacks, such as a storage compartment for the fire tabs. I also attached a spy capsule full of PJ cotton balls to mine. No fail firestarter & tinder in one package. Don't want to risk losing everything by putting it in one package like that? Just attach a carabiner to the it & always hook it to yourn pack, belt, whatever.
Yes, it's big & clunky, but that also means that half-frozen hypothermic hands can also manipulate it. Equipment that looks, & even performs, neat as all get out in perfect conditions can often turn out to be not so good when it's pitch dark, windy, wet, frozen, etc. etc.

nomad,

regarding the black color, and the possibility of losing it, and putting a yellow line on it: I put strips of fluorescent yellow tape on a lot of my gear, for similar reasons. I also put glow in the dark paint on a lot of my gear, for similar reasons.

You could always paint it. On some of my equipment I put some of those tritium keychains on them. They’re not cheap, but they have some benefits over glow in the dark stuff. For one, they don’t need charged by light to work. You can also (barely) use them to see to read something if you had too. They could also be used to attract fish at night when fishing in an emergency.

Andy, I agree. I put a lot of trasers on my gear, too.

With the return of Ultimate Survival, the NRA special may be available later. I dont know for certain tho.

The blastmatch comes in orange too. I did not get any because I did not think of the benefits of it. You guys are making me rethink that. You are just full of useful information. I like that about you.
Thanks!

I very much prefer strike force. The handle full of tinder is just perfect.
