I put 500.00 for fixed blade and 300.00 for folder. In reality I may spend more or less depending on the knife and its value to me. So for me personally there really is no limit.
Some on here have no problem paying hundreds and hundreds for a Busse FBM with all the trimmings. I won't. However, some might scoff at me for wanting to plunk down 250.00 to 300.00 for a Chris Reeve Mountaineer II. It's all about the value to you that matters.

That's true, but does it have a fossilized walrus penis handle? But who am I to talk. I bought the Bear Grylls knife!

It's a fine knife, but a Yard Keeper or HRLM are probably a lot stronger and a whole lot cheaper. But at the price they're asking, I don't think there will ever be many of them. They are all hand made one at a time on order by Rob Bayley. I just wanted one. Not one like it. Not one as good as it. I wanted that knife, and now I have it.

I put the most I have paid for a fixed ($500) and folder ($300). I may pay more in the future, tho.

I put 400 for my folder limit, only because I am going to get a Sebenza some day, Ditto on a large Sebenza. Plus I already dropped about $375 on a Strider SnG (this was before I knew about Mick and his legendary antics)

I said $600 on fixed (me likey the ASH & the AK), but did not pull the trigger.
$400 for folder, I would like a nice Sebenza, a custom Bob Dozier, a Darrell Ralph, Pat Crawford and or Robbie Dalton folder(s) one of these days. May need to up the folder limit to $600 too? Too many damned good blades not enough money!

Did it also come with a complimentary flint and water bottle.

I ended up choosing a limit of over $1000 for a fixed-blade. I'm including swords as fixed blades; I've seriously considered spending over a grand on a sword, and perhaps someday I'll drink that kool-aid. I know that swords aren't practical, but the biggest advantage to being single is that you don't need anyone's permission to buy whatever you want.
As far as folders go, I've spent more than $100 more often than I'd care to admit, but I don't ever see myself going over $200. My opinion is that a folder is semi-disposable. If you ever attract a cop's attention, there's a fair likelihood that he'll seize it. I've also had things fall out of my pockets, although I can't recall actually losing a knife in the last decade -- I lost a set of keys but have only misplaced knives because they've always turned up later. Still, anything that I carry won't be something that I can't accept losing. 2nd that, I bought a Argonne Assualt-SE-2007 which was the most expensive.
