Wow those are nice watches. I've never owned a nice watch. My old Timex has about had it. I may upgrade, but it won't be as nice as that Rolex.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

The seiko sport 5 is a good one. Seiko's seem to have a great rep with watch fans. I likes me a good watch, but I have lots more to learn. There are those who treat watches the way most of us treat knives, like an addiction.

On a serious note, this is my dress watch when i am not working: WOW, do you need an engineering degree to operate that? Sweet looking watch Dan Nah, I just drink until it makes sense! This also got me a through a few course...

The kind of knife a guy carries tells a bit about him too. I don't wear a watch anymore since there’s a clock on my cell phone, one less thing to carry. The most recent watch I bought was a pocket watch on clearance at Walmart for $5. Most of my life I wore a multifunction calculator watch because I wanted the most functions and more usefulness. It had world time, calculator, stopwatch, stored several hundred phone numbers, etc. My Mom’s legally blind, and she has a talking wrist watch. For the alarm, a rooster crows.

I have a Casio Triple Sensor watch, which has an altimeter/barometer, compass, and thermometer. When I want those functions, I take the watch with me (attached to a pack strap or belt loop... I never "wear" it). I'm not sure I've ever looked at it to find out the time. The rest of the time, I go without a watch.
I had a Casio Triple Sensor watch years ago, and Dell Williams Jewelers in Santa Cruz, California, ruined it while changing the battery, and refused to offer me any compensation. Several years later, a friend gave me his... still in the unopened box ...when he was moving.
By the way, Dan, in case you're wondering what pen I use: Fisher Space Pen. I use the bullet model, in bright purple.

I used to carry a stainless steel Fisher bullet pen, but I loaned it to my Mom to use while she was bedfast, (so she could write upside down in bed) and she lost it and I’ve not seen it in years. I found a pen I prefer though in writing feel to my space pen. It’s a gel ink pen from Walmart. It writes smoother on the paper, and the ink is darker and easier to read. The downside is, it takes a while to dry on glossy paper and can smear easy when wet. This can especially be difficult for a lefty like me.

I don't find FSPs particularly comfortable to write with, but I use one for its desired properties: works in extreme heat and cold, carries small, etc.

I love that Seiko Black Monster, I have an Orange Monster that sees a good bit of wear once I get around to it in the rotation. These Seiko Jungle Masters caught my eye and I picked up a few. The white one is gone but I just put the Titanium one back in the watch case after about a month of wear. Autos are for folks who like watches, Quartz are for people who just want to know the time. ![[Linked Image from i83.photobucket.com]](http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j283/mhawg/Seikolandsharks.jpg)

I got interested in watches and found out that ost watch companies buy the movement and only make the surround so that often a 5000$ watch and a 700$ watch will have the exact same internals. If you are careful and try to find the Scrapyard of auto watches you can get an awesome watch for a pretty good deal. The more I learned about Rolex's and other high end watches and what actually worked the best the easier it became to decide what to buy. I got a Casio G-Shock and never regretted it.
I am not one of those people who does not understand why people like "real" watches though. I really appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that goes into a good movement. I don't like blingy watches though.
I love a nice antique pocket watch or old ships chronometers. Back before GPS etc they needed accurate timepieces to figure out where they were on the ocean so a chronometer was vital.
