Well, I can be pretty creative myself! Especially when a wrench slips and I smack my hand while working on a piece of equipment. I have amazed my wife with my verbal creativity, but she does her best not to laugh while I am in pain - just immediately afterward!

It is amazing how poetic profanity can proliferate with the onset of pain.

Good one GF - I never thought of profanity as poetic.

Have you ever seen "V for Vendetta" ...the main character does a 2 minute rant of nothing but "V" woords...it made me feel ignorant, because I didn't know quite a bit of them.

Yeah, I thought that was a good movie. You know they pulled out a dictionary to look up all the V words though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I don't think anyone would know that many off the top of their head.

Oh, come on Andy - don't be modest! With all the information you carry around in your head, you could probably do it too!

No doubt, Big A is one smart cookie! Me not so smart, but me have other things me good at, like, um... me forgot!
It's true, itn't it: profanity is often poetic, and poetry is often profane -- Like Joyce's Ulysses was actually banned for being obscene! Unthinkable by today's standards. If you follow that logic, then what is considered profane or obscene now will later be perfectly acceptable -- that's simple evolution -- censorship is primitive, and the more we evolve, the less we consider offensive. So we just have to have compassion for those who are offended by us, they are simply less evolved, that's all. In a couple hundred years, they'll come around...

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

I'm not so sure that censorship is primitive and we are evolving away from it, or that as a society we are exposed to 'more' and thus lose our sensitivity to things that previously would have shocked... Compassion to our peers is a fine sentiment though!!
