Cool looking house and land. I will get some property at some point. Track homes not my style and that's where I am stuck for now.

Other than the doors and windows, I see no 90 degree angles. I wonder if it has a radar signature? Does the design offer heathing/cooling advantages Bors?

Yep...90 degree angles are kinda far and few between LOL.

Don't know about the RCS thats a good question...maybe the local B2 AF base could help with that.

The panels are a little thicker than 2" of fibre/steel mesh reinforced concrete with 7" of EPS insulation on the inside. Heating and cooling is supposed to be ~30% of a standard framed house. In really cold areas you can get 9" of EPS insulation.

The efficiency was one of the reasons we went this way.

American Ingenuity!! I built a 48' and connected a 40 footer to it out in Colorado. I lived in them for 12 years before we had to move to NC, but I still have the place. They are great houses.

[quote]Awhile back I mentioned that I am building a house in the country. Well I just finished painting the outside. There is still a little bit left to doaround the windows but the main part is done. Now I can focus on the inside getting it ready for drywall.

It's a 48' Concrete Geodesic dome 3 stories, 5 bedrooms, garage on the lower floor. It sets on 4 acres and we also have the 5 acre lot next door. It's on top of a ridge with a ~10 mile view most of the way around.

It's not leaning it's just the angle of the pic

I'm jazzed the outside of the dome is very close to

That is really nice looking. Most Geo-domes leave me a little bored but this is very eye appealing. Dry walling this monster is going to take some time with all those seams. I have done a bunch of drywall but this would scare me.

Please post pictures of the inside when you complete this project

Thanks for sharing

Dan

I wonder if being a knife lover and achieving financial security are mutually exclusive?

Congrats Bors ,I am shopping for some land and plan to put a prebuilt home on it ,not a geo but maybe one of the ones that uses shipping containers like lego bricks.

Bors,
That house rocks. Our original plan was to buy land and construct a log cabin or dome. We went to 332 thousand seminars, then, SHE decided we cannot wait for construction, and, here I am in conventional house land.
Good idea, buying the land around you. Keeps annoying people like myself from moving in.

Cool house. Another benefit to them is they’re more wind resistant to tornados, they help deflect the wind.
