just enjoying the fact that we may hit 90 tomorrow (today!). it's been a long week, but sun in seattle cures a lot of ills.

how are things with you?

Yes, I've been in Seattle in the endless overcast weather.

Despite still being o the tail end of a cold, I'm doing very well. I'm beginning to get involved with a wonderful woman.

that sounds like a good deal. a wonderful woman brightens all days. i haven't been very good at keeping up with the happenings here on the 'shiny place' due to an oppressive workload lately, so i think i missed the end of dreams saga. last i heard, the book was on the rocks, but you were heading toward an interesting business partnership. what's the latest?

The "dreams" part was a mis-type. I was thinking about "woman of my dreams" while typing "tail end of a cold".

That business patnership is still in the works. All's good on that front.

I haven't been around much, either. What's the latest, with you?

hmm. a couple reorgs at work resulted in a new boss and an interim role managing my team. so i'm dealing with the double whammy of having to manage upward and downward in a new situation in both directions. things are looking good, but it's keeping me tied up most waking hours. hopefully the interim gets dropped at some point.

glad to hear it was a cold that was defeated, not your dreams!

Is there corresponding increase in pay? Are you under more pressure? Any idea how long this interim will last?

that's the rub about the interim role. no change in title or pay - just a tankerload of extra work. i think they didn't want to make any change permanent because it would constrain the new guy a bit. much of the stress is driven by the uncertainty. all i can do is give it my best and hope the new guy buys in. at the end of the day the worst thing that happens is i go back to my really good former situation. in light of the problems that others in the world are facing, i can't complain about anything.
