MC, I just bought a pair of Vasque Zephyr II boots and so far find them incredibly comfortable. Thye do have a larger heel and thus IMHO an unusual feeling heel strike (real padded feel) but it become normal like anything else.

Yes Andy, I have been to the round up in Sweetwater several times. There is an even bigger one in a little town not far from me called Waurika, Oklahoma. Huh…I didn’t know that. I thought the Sweetwater one was the biggest. One thing I hated was that overpowering “snake smell” when you go in. If you’ve been there you know what I mean. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Hey Andy, what do you think of the new M9LE? It looks really nice, but expensive. I can’t really justify keeping one when I have a DFLE & RM.

HA! A hike always takes my headaches away. I've been working six days, sucks 'cuz I wanted to get some hike time in while the weather is nice. Wanted to test my new convex edges as well but at least the extra dough will cover me for the blades and sheaths I've ordered.
MC, like the new Avatar! I was wondering when you would get rid of that friggin' elf!
I have worked on my feet most of my life, I have come to the conclusion that though some good tough boots are not as comfortable it is easily remedied with inserts. I prefer shoes/boots that can take serious poundings and having beat the hell out of all manner of boots and shoes daily I highly recommend Redwings. They are not cheap they may be heavy and hot depending on the model but I have yet to find a more durable leather. I work with a water utility and I inspected construction projects so I have beat theses boots against concrete, rebar, mud, asphalt- you name it. It may seem like overkill but they have many models for whatever you are looking for. The only reason I say anything is because I have been truly impressed by their quality. I have owned maybe 7 pairs, for various reasons/tasks, and all have been performers.

Evening, Men!
Art, +1 on the Redwings. Very tough. USA-made boots are hard to come by anymore.
What's everyone up to?
I was making a knife for Vance, and while drilling the tang found that one side of the steel had not been properly annealed. So, it's being annealed tonight. I'll work on it later this weekend.
