You have some awesome talent and a real eye for photography! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I like the color seal, the variations in color make it more interesting to me. Have you considered tweaking the background with photoshop (or the like) to make it all black and remove the light reflecting off of his mom's fur? I'm thinking that would give it a studio look and make it that much more unique.

Thank you, Voxhog!

I have not considered it. A studio look is not what I desire, here.

By the way: that one is an adult, and that's not his mother, just another sea lion.

Good morning, everybody. Just thought I'd check in on the Death Channel while working. And so, the weekly work grind begins!

Having a belt sander makes you way more willing to use your knives knowing it won't be a battle to get them sharp again.

That is true. I just need to get me a sander and start practicing on some cheap blades.

I can definitely see this being the case. These are some tough steels that we are talking about, so sharpening the blades seems to require more effort than, say, my typical folder. Double M spent over an hour on one blade last night and still had a ways to go to get the blade to where he wanted it.

hey, no one's attracted to the yard for the sensibility. we come for the sharpened prybars. we stay for the death chat.

Truth to that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

In all fairness, I was going intentionally slow, doing other things while I worked on it, and doing a massive reprofile of the edge geometry.

We aren't just talking about touching up an edge after use - a light stropping of my reprofiled Mini Uncle Mojo after the Saturday chopoff brought it back to hair popping sharp in about a minute.

By comparison, on the high street yesterday, I was completely changing the character of the edge. I wasn't just sharpening it, I was removing lots of steel, and going very slowly, testing regularly, to get the blade where I wanted it by "feel" and not by measurement.

And this one:

Is it too hard for the viewer to understand what's going on? Does it not look like much?
I really like this one.

Is it too visually confusing? Or too pornographic?

But daddy, he's killing her <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Is this an also-ran, compared to my other landscapes?

Beautiful, makes me want to be camping on the shoreline.
