The last time my uncle went camping with his 2 sons, he left the gear with some lucky soul that stumbled upon them. He decided right then and there that he was never going to do it again

Swung by Harbor Freight today while I was running some other errands, and wouldn't you know it - the 30x1" belt sander was on sale for 34.99. Surely a sign from fate that I was destined to go home with one, don't you think???

Congrats, Double M. Please let us know how that works. Funny how much that chop-off influenced you over the past week

That is a pretty sweet price. I may have to wander over to the local store myself, and see if it is nation-wide.

Seems I will have to stop by the one in Allentown! Glad I have some cheap folders to work on. Any advice on belts (grit)? Also, do they make a leather belt for it? This should be interesting.
Enjoy every sandwich.

OH, also, I've heard you can do V-grinds on belt sanders. Is this just a matter of tension? I want nice convex edges.
Enjoy every sandwich.

Jacks R Better is a great company, owned by two really cool guys, but I don't own any of their gear. My hammock is a Warbonnet Blackbird, which is hand-made to order by a good ole USA craftsman. I love buying from businesses like that whenever I can. http://warbonnetoutdoors.net

What grits/type of belt do you think I should get? Like, on this page, I will get a leather belt to polish the edge. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&cat=1,43072,48040&p=48040 What other belts should I order for a good convex? Also, does tension play a role?

Dang you guys! It's bad enough with the steel! Now I'm getting a sander and a hammock. At least I'm getting stuff I know works. You guys rock! Also, I like supporting those small businesses myself.

If you need any help with the hammocking world let me know - a lot like knives, there's a bit of a learning curve with the terminology, and even the setup can be a bit tricky the first time or two you go out.
But once you get it figured out... man, is it nice!
Takes me about 2 minutes to get my hammock and tarp hung. I barely have the tent poles untangled at that point.
