yeah knifeguys version, is great for clicing, fine work and feild use. i don't like knives too thin, for a fixed blade i like at least 1/8, but I'd prefer 3/16 or more3.

honestly I hope/think something big is next.
maybe an s7 or another dogfather release, maybe a skelly.

However, it feels a little inappropriate timing considering Dan just announced a knife and it is due to be released in a few hours. - .... Seems like it might be better to wait at least a couple days after the release (????) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

No offense was intended. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I was only trying to persuasively sell this knife to Dan, as the next possible release. I'll be making my purchases tonight.....but, must continually look to the future. I don't like to let my mind idle for too long.

I'd even offer to help make them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

No problem.... I am sure. I doubt Dan would really be offended and he is probably pretty confident we will buy out all his Yard Keeper CG's in a reasonable time frame. Of course, we have no idea how many were made.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Obviously, I couldn't resist participating in the chants! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

guess i just have enough thick blades, i'm ready for a change. my saks, moras, and new opinel are thin, and they're very capable. haven't tried with the saks but out of pure curiosity tried batoning the mora and opinel, both were fine. wouldn't use them for that normally, just had to see.

as for thin edges on thick knives, you must have missed my comments about the convexed d-mutt. awesome, to put it shortly. demonic.

I may have missed your commments on the convexed DM - or more likely - forgot <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> I hate forgetting. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> My grandmother has Althiemer's. It is not pretty and scarry to think my wife might have to put up with me repeating my stupid stories over and over every 15 minutes because I forgot I just told her. I hope not. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

But, yes, it sounds like we agree - a good convex profile and sharp edge will cut like crazy even on a thick DM. - although, I don't know that I am too (realistically) interested in a .28" thick 3.5" bladed knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

But, I don't consider .11" - .15" thick at all! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

These are thick (but, still cool for their own unique values in my book):

The Yard Keeper LE - 0.257" thick
Dumpster Mutt .... - 0.27" thick

These are "Reasonable" thickness blades in my book:

SS4 .......... - 0.185"
Howling Rat LM - 0.177"
HR 2nd gen.... - 0.175"

The Bog Dog at 0.14" thick is pretty thin to me., It does have a 4.625" blade, but the full height grind makes it seem very thin.

Blade height, blade "grind" height and edge profile all effect the "feel" of the thickness.

Another thing to consider is that overly thin blade are very hard to baton as the blade edge is so thin is cuts into your baton too much. - not that you would look to baton a 3.5" blade very often... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ... But,.....
I still have to say that 0.11" - 0.15" thick would be good (IMO). I could easily argue for 0.125" (1/8th inch) - 0.15"

In any event, I still don't care for overly thin fixed bladed field use knives.

**** Interesting - now that I think about it - I thought Dan might not be able to get SR-77 thinner than .25" thick (??????). The Yard Keeper will now be the only SR-77 blade under .25" thick.

I might be interested in seeing this 3.5" bladed concept knife in some of that D2 to is supposed to be stashed away somewhere by the "tons". (????).

14" "Blade" - right???? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> - Maybe 15" - 17" even ... ????

At $20.00, put me down for a "CRATE-LOAD" of those!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Although, I would probably prefer somthing more like 1/4" tapered to 1/8" at the tip for a blade at those lengths. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

And one of these with a 15" - 17" blade while we are at it:

I want this knife to be the next offering and I don't care how many fingers are cut or lost during it's creation. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> If someone needs to be liquidated to get this knife done....just give me a call. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> I will climb the highest mountain or swim the deepest oceans.

I believe it's base on the Baby Coot???? Less than a 4" blade.....Sweetness. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
