Looks great!! I started out as a drummer as well - after a few years of playing, I decided it was time to switch, since my buddy was better than I was - and a two drummer band would be pretty lame without a guitar... so I decided to pick one up. Glad I did!
I wouldn't say that I am switching, but the guitar is much more conducive to apartment life than drums. I will probably remain a better drummer than guitar player, and I'm not in a band, so there really is no conflict of same instruments. I basically play my drums for fun whenever I go back home. I've got friends in bands, but occasional jams are enough for me. The problem away at school is that I don't know people down here to jam with. Oh well.
It's kind of funny, Diceman, because one of my good high school buddies is pretty much in the same boat as you. He started as a drummer, took up the bass for a little bit, but now plays the guitar and has spent quite a bit of money on guitars. Back in our high school days (about 7-8 years ago), he was the best drummer around. He loved Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, and other very talented classic rock drummers. Once his younger brother started to play along with Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa, he passed up my buddy's drumming skill. That's about when he took up the guitar more seriously so they could start a band. Anyway, enough rambling...
